PR Officer – Fixed Term Contract (Maternity Cover)

An opportunity has arisen for an organised PR Officer to join our exciting and dynamic Marketing and Communications department. The job role has a wide-ranging remit and the candidate will develop and support campaigns for the good of both dogs and their owners. Based in Central London.

Reporting to the Senior Press Officer, the candidate will support the department in helping to evaluate and report on performance, manage media lists in Gorkana/Cision Cloud and keep celebrity and case study databases up-to-date.

The candidate will have experience of helping to organise press events and will be able to support the team by organising the logistics for key calendar dates, including Crufts and Discover Dogs.

You will also co-ordinate public relations and promotional activity supporting Kennel Club services in a consistent manner which is sympathetic to the Club’s Mission Statement. You will have the opportunity to create and implement media campaigns, using a wide range of PR techniques and channels in order to achieve effective brand coverage.

Ideally the successful candidate will have at least two years’ public relations experience, including working in a busy and proactive press office. A good working knowledge of national, local, regional and social media channels is required. Media nous and a good knowledge of press office and newsroom routines are essential.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ability to work on your own initiative and willingness to put forward ideas is essential, as is the need to have a flexible approach to work.

Ideally you will have a working knowledge of Gorkana, plus a qualification in communications/media studies/journalism.

An interest in dogs is essential.
