The Kennel Club launches new 'Voice for dogs' manifesto ahead of general election

Ahead of the General Election on December 12th, the new Kennel Club manifesto, ‘A Voice for Dogs’, calls upon the incoming government to reshape the laws surrounding dog welfare and provide stronger support to their owners. The wide-ranging nine-point plan highlights the key issues facing dogs and their owners, and details the legislative changes and measures which need to be taken to deliver far greater protection for dogs across the UK.
Get your nominations in for the Kennel Cub Accredited Instructor Scheme Awards

The Kennel Club will be holding its Kennel Club Accredited Instructor (KCAI) Awards at Crufts 2020 and is asking for nominations for two awards, the Kennel Club Accredited Instructor of the Year award, modelled on the previous Trainer of the Year Award, and a new award, the Kennel Club Accredited Instructor Scheme Significant Contribution award.

WT Ch Glenalpine Fen CDEx - TDEx, a six-year-old Border Collie owned by Pat Herbert, has won the Tracking Dog Stake for the second time at the Kennel Club Working Trials Championships. The Patrol Dog Stake was won by Moira Rogerson’s WT Ch Xandoas Isa CDEx - TDEx, PDEx, a five-year-old Malinois Belgian Shepherd Dog.

FT Ch Aytee Jumbo Jet of Islasbraw, a six-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer from Perthshire, has won the Kennel Club’s Hunt, Point and Retrieve (HPR) Championship for the second year in a row. Sponsored by Skinner's Pet Foods Field & Trial, the event was held at the Swinton Park Estate in Ripon, North Yorkshire by kind permission of Lord Masham.
Two new DNA schemes to combat eye disease in the Standard Poodle

In a move designed to combat inherited eye disease in the Standard Poodle, the Kennel Club has approved two new official DNA testing schemes for progressive retinal atrophy in the breed, prcd-PRA and PRA (rcd4), following consultation with the Poodle Breed Council.
