Kennel Club Working Trials Championships 2018

Alan Bexon and WT Ch Fly By Night Lad, a nine-year-old Working Sheepdog, have won the Patrol Dog Stake for the third time in four years at the Kennel Club Working Trials Championships. The Tracking Dog Stake was won by Margaret Robinson and WT Ch Just Arran over Trentvalley, a six-year-old Working Sheepdog.

North West Working Trials Society hosted the Championships, sponsored by the Kennel Club and Arden Grange, at Lower Withington Village Hall, near Knutsford, Cheshire.

The Championships saw highly talented working trial dogs put through their paces via a series of activities to determine the top dogs for both Tracking Dogs (TD) and Patrol Dogs (PD).

Patrol Dog judge, Tracey Park, selected the following winners:

  • 1st Alan Bexon with WT Ch Fly By Night Lad CDex-TDex, PDex, 295 points
  • 2nd Lauren Marlow with WT Ch Jotunheim Eli CDex-TDex, PDex, 244.5

Tracking Dog judge, Richard Musgrave, selected the following winners:

  • 1st Margaret Robinson with WT Ch Just Arran over Trentvalley CDex-TDex, 208 points
  • 2nd Pat Herbert with WT Ch Glenalpine Fen CDex-TDex, 206.5
  • 3rd Jill Carruthers with Helaka Adella CDex-TDex, 204.5
  • 4th Sheila Margreaves with Khamysker Rocket CDex-TDex, 203

Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Secretary, said: “Dogs that compete in working trials are some of the most highly trained in the country. The relationship they have with their owners is remarkable and they are great examples of the fantastic results that can come from good training.
