Pixie, a Kerry Blue Terrier from Swansea, won the Terrier Group title at Crufts 2020 today (Sunday 8th March), qualifying her for a place in the Best in Show final this evening.
Pixie, (Indian Princess at Perrisblu), aged three, will return to the Resorts World Arena at the NEC in Birmingham for a place in the final at the world’s greatest dog show, Crufts, with her owner and handler, Phil Davies.
People across the world will be watching to see which dog is crowned Best in Show this evening as the final is shown live on Channel 4 and streamed on the official Crufts YouTube Channel - www.youtube.com/crufts.
Almost 20,000 dogs have competed over the last four days for one of just seven places in the Crufts final and a chance to win the most celebrated title in the world of dogs.
Proud owner Phil is a Kennel Club Assured Breeder and previously won Reserve Best in Show with a Wire Fox Terrier in 2006 so is hoping to go one better in the Best in Show final tonight. Speaking of his win with Pixie, Phil said: “Pixie is an amazing showgirl. She shows quite well in the breed but when she gets into the group, her showmanship truly goes up a gear.
“I will be retiring her after today, as three terrier groups with each of her Challenge Certificates to become a champion is incredible. I really could not ask any more of her than that.”
Vanessa McAlpine, Crufts Show Manager, said: “We are delighted to see Pixie chosen as the Terrier Group winner this evening. It’s a fantastic achievement to reach the prestigious Best in Show final and Pixie and Phil should be very proud of that.
“Crufts celebrates happy and healthy dogs and recognises the special and unique bond between dogs and their owners. Pixie is a wonderful dog and she clearly has a great relationship with Phil.
“We want to wish them both the best of luck in the final this evening.”
