Drago, a three-year-old Bullmastiff from Belgium, and his owner Sylvie Loosveldt won the Working Group title at Crufts 2020 today (Saturday 7th March), qualifying him for a place in the Best in Show final tomorrow.
Drago (Be/Fr/Nl/De/Pl/Hu Ch Phoenix Never Dies Du Monde D’Elias JCH Be/Nl) will return to the Resorts World Arena at the NEC in Birmingham for a place in the final at the world’s biggest dog show, Crufts, with his handler Sylvie.
People from around Britain and the world will be watching to see which dog is crowned Best in Show tomorrow as the final is filmed live on Channel 4 and available to be streamed on the official Crufts YouTube Channel - www.youtube.com/crufts.
Almost 20,000 dogs are competing over the four days for one of just seven places in the Crufts final and a chance to win the most celebrated title in the world of dogs.
The proud owner Sylvie said: “I am very pleasantly surprised - he is a champion of six countries, but this is a great success.
“I was expecting to go home tonight and now we get to stay until tomorrow and be part of the Best in Show finale!
“He is a great dog, very active - we go on long walks, sometimes as much as 20 kilometres per day. We spend a lot of time together.”
Vanessa McAlpine, Crufts Show Manager, said: “Winning the Best in Group today is a great achievement for Sylvie and Drogo. They should be very proud of reaching the prestigious Best in Show final tomorrow after their hard work.
“Crufts recognises the special and unique bond between dogs and their owners and celebrates healthy, happy dogs and the bond between Drago and his handler was outstanding. Drago was at home in the show ring and his confidence impressed the judges.
“We want to wish them the best of luck in the ring - we are sure that many in Belgium will be tuning in to the show tomorrow to cheer them on.”
