Following the news of the cancellation of Crufts 2021, meetings have been taking place regarding the impact of the pandemic on Crufts 2022.
The Kennel Club Crufts Committee has reviewed the qualification entry for Crufts 2022 and has agreed that 1st, 2nd and 3rd in Novice and Graduate classes should be added to qualification status for championship show wins where breeds have separate classification, including from shows that have already taken place. The qualification period for Crufts 2022 is from 25 January 2021 until 24 January 2022 inclusive, however those that were placed first at Crufts 2020 will also qualify for Crufts 2022. For the full qualification criteria, frequently asked questions on the criteria and further information regarding Crufts please visit the Crufts website.
Tom Mather, Crufts Chairman, said: “Due to the ongoing situation with Covid-19, and the issue where many Crufts qualifying shows have been unable to take place, it was felt by the Crufts Committee that more opportunity for people to qualify needed to be addressed. With the addition of the above classes to the criteria list, and with the hope that shows will start up again in the near future, it will provide our dog showing community with an increased opportunity to qualify for Crufts 2022.”
The committee would like to also confirm that the group days for Crufts 2022 remain the same:
Thursday 10 March – Working and Pastoral
Friday 11 March – Terrier and Hound
Saturday 12 March – Utility and Toy
Sunday 13 March – Gundog
Further Crufts announcements, including decisions about the judges that were appointed for Crufts 2021, will be made in due course and the website will be kept updated on the Crufts website.
