Flyball team, Roadrunners Beep Beep, took the top prize on Sunday 13 March, winning the flyball final at the world’s greatest dog show, Crufts.
Roadrunners Beep Beep is made up of dogs and handlers from across Belgium. The team successfully set a new Crufts flyball record of 14.71 seconds and secured the win with impressive speed.
The team beat off competition from 15 other top flyball teams to win the exciting final at Crufts. These teams competed in eight qualifiers held at a range of shows during 2021 for the chance to make it to the 'grand prix' of GB flyball at Crufts.
The final competition consisted of four top teams: Roadrunners Beep Beep, Focus, Aces and Molten Magnets.
Roadrunners Beep Beep team member Dave Maris said: “It is amazing to win! We are overwhelmed. It is our first time at Crufts and to break six records on the way to winning is a great feeling! The dogs just got faster and faster as they became used to performing here."
Runners up, Focus, team member Justin Shearing, from North Yorkshire, said: "We are ecstatic with the result. To lose to a team that has broken the record six times is no disgrace."
Vanessa McAlpine, Crufts Show Manager, said: “Roadrunners Beep Beep put on an incredible show in the ring for all the crowd and a massive congratulations to all of the dogs and owners in Roadrunners Beep Beep for securing their win. Their teamwork and passion for flyball was evident throughout and we want to wish them the best of luck in following competitions and future Crufts to come!”
Crufts took place from 10 - 13 March 2022 at the NEC, Birmingham. For more information and results from the show, please visit the Crufts website.
