Due to popular demand, The Kennel Club has added further dates in 2025 for the ‘Eye for a Dog assessment’.
The Eye for a Dog assessment is for judges wishing to progress to award Challenge Certificates to subsequent breeds via the Judges Education Programme (JEP) route. Judges applying to be approved for groups and best in show and policy judges must have also successfully passed the Eye for a Dog Assessment. In order to be eligible to take part, a candidate must have been approved for at least one breed and judged them at Challenge Certificate (CC) level.
Earlier today (Tuesday 10 December), The Kennel Club announced that the assessment will take place on Wednesday 5 February 2025 at The Kennel Club Building, Stoneleigh, Warwickshire. Both morning and afternoon sessions are now fully booked.
An extra date has now been added and there are two sessions available for judges to book online (candidates must be logged into their online account) and places will be filled on a first come, first served basis.
Thursday 6 February 2025, The Kennel Club Building, Stoneleigh.

To book on the afternoon session click here.
The assessment is available to book at a cost of £25.
Further Eye for a Dog assessments will be announced later in 2025. Please email Judges Education Programme (Breed Shows) to be placed on a reserve list for the February dates.
The passing of the Eye for a Dog assessment is a one-off mandatory requirement for judges progressing to award CCs to a fourth or subsequent breed if progressing under the JEP route, however the assessment is also available for those judges progressing for a second or third CC breed under the JEP route.
A copy of the Code of Best Practice for the assessment can be found online here.
Those judges who have previously taken the assessment and have passed are not required to take it again.
