
What is summer camp?
Welcome to Summer Camp
A holiday with your family, friends and best of all your dog!
This is the biggest event for Young Kennel Club members and guarantees the whole family a summer holiday of a fun. Camp is perfect for members who wish to spend time with their dogs and fellow Young Kennel Club members. Its action packed to keep you and your dog entertained and also plenty of rest for your dog whilst you join in with team time and social activities. Camp will run from Saturday 26 July - Friday 1 August 2025.

The Camp Experience
Camp will feature dog training for multiple disciplines and a social entertainment throughout the day and evening.
We have a great team of trainers who will be there all week to teach variety of levels from beginners to advanced.
With our amazing group of team leaders who are all volunteers and been involved with the YKC for many years will lead your teams throughout the social activities. This is a brilliant part of the Camp experience, and we will have some fun activities lined up for everyone on site to get involved!

Social Sessions (without your dog)
We have a busy and fun activities for members to take part in with their team to win points.
- Saturday – Cricket Match Night – fun for all the teams, family and friends.
- Sunday – Celebrity Bear Hunt: Camp Edition
- Monday – Quiz Night including Oakham'oke– Fun for all the teams, family and friends.
- Tuesday -Family Afternoon Summer Fete
- Wednesday - Talent Night - Last night in your team to impress the judges!
- Thursday – Last Night Awards and Disco Night for all and the theme is Back 2 the 80’s!
Extra points can be gained in Camp Challenge 2025.
We will have onsite activities for family members to take part in:
Bingo, Adult Handling, Team Building Games, Arts and Crafts and a Fun Run. All family members are encouraged to come along to the social evenings and maybe even have your own team!
About the venue and facilities
- Summer Camp is held at Rutland Showground a fantastic venue for outdoor events, located on the Oakham bypass just a few miles away from the A1. Plenty of green fields and space for camping and great facilities.
Onsite you will have access to the following facilities during your stay:
- 24-hour accessible toilets and shower blocks
- Site camping area with drinking water points
- Washing up area (not for dogs)
- Waste disposal suitable for caravans/motor homes
- Indoor areas - the Rutland Pavilion and main marquee
- Wet weather marquee
- Clubhouse - fully licensed bar open from 5.30pm.
- Onsite catering unit - Roaming Giraffe is a pop up catering specialist
- Electrical charging points available in the main marquee
- Hard standing carpark
- Picnic benches
- First Aid Medical Team
- 24 hour site security team
Camping
Families must provide their own tents or caravans.
- All pitch sizes are 10m x 8m.
- All pitches are suitable for tent, trailer tent, caravan/campervans.
- On the day of arrival the pitches will be available from 12pm onwards and they must be vacated by 12pm on departure.
- Pre-booked electrical hook-up on-site.
- Generators are permitted between the hours of 8am – 10pm.
- All those camping on the showground field need to please bring additional supporting pads to the ones which are fitted to your motorhome or caravan. This is due to stopping caravans from sinking into the ground in wet weather.
What Does it Cost?
Camp Experience
Payment to be completed by the end of June 2025.

The cost for the member to take part in the training and social programme is £295 per member.

If a sibling is attending their training and social programme will be charged at a reduced rate of £250.

Sibling just joining the social teams for the week - £70 for the week pre book.
Day Training/Social Experience (Monday-Tuesday and Thursday only)

The cost for the member to take part in the day training and social programme is £85 per member pre book.

Sibling just joining the social activities for the day - £20 pre book.
Extra adults attending for the day - £20 pre book.
Camping/Caravan pitch costs
- Six nights – electric grass pitch - £200 (£33 per night)
- Six nights – non electric grass pitch - £160 (£26 per night)
